Additional information

The district land lease committee (DLLC) will issue a forwarding letter for forestry clearance addressed to the Chief Forestry Officer within a week, and notify the applicant to obtain Environmental Clearance for land from the Environment Section. Current status of govt land lease in Thimphu: the District Administration is in receipt of an order from the National Land Commission Secretariat (NLCS) to not lease govt land for manufacturing and production businesses (until further notice) unless it is located in Bjemina area (surrounding the industrial estate). This is just an interim measure to avoid the negative impacts of factories in the residential areas. For services and trading, the rules for govt land lease remain as it is.
